Improve your balance and prevent falls with our Strategies for Better Balance Series. BGFJCC Personal Trainers Suzan Mekler and Yvette Wilmath will lead these workshops and will provide education, exercises, performance skills and safety tips to improve mobility, stability and posture.

 

All levels and abilities are welcome and can benefit! Registration is required to participate. Limited seats available. Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 10.


The BGFJCC is excited to present "Strategies for Better Balance " an 8 Session Workshop Instructed by Suzan Mekler and Yvette Wilmath; Certified Trainers, and Community Health Educators.
This Workshop for "Better Balance" focuses on the physical fitness components of improving balance and preventing falls for all ages. the program will offer education, exercises, performance skills, and safety tips to improve mobility, stability and posture all levels and abilities can benefit.  Each participant will walk away for materials, actual exercises and strong foundation of how to implement what they learned into their daily lives. Your only requirement is to participate to gain the most benefit. Registration of 6 participants is required and max. of 10.

Teaching Couples - Massage 2 Hour Workshop

Basic techniques such as effleurage, hand techniques, body positioning, allowing proper techniques for couples to apply in the comfort of their own home. Please bring 2 pillows, blanket, wear shorts, sports bra, bathing suit or something similar. Max of 6 couples.

Women's Self Defense - RAD - Workshop

This workshop has its foundation in education and awareness. The course includes lecture, discussion, and self-defense techniques suitable for women ages 12 years and up, and of all abilities.


The course teaches realistic self-defense tactics to avoid and escape violence.  This comprehensive class starts with self-awareness, prevention, and risk reduction strategies, and progresses to hands on techniques learned in a dynamic simulation.

 

The 12 hour course consists of four 3 hour classes and includes a participant manual and Lifetime practice and return policy.  Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Our Professional Massage Team will be sharing techniques, exercises, and movements to help you relieve / understand pain. Each month we will focus on a specific area in the body, provide the theory and physiology of pain and what you can incorporate into your lifestyle to find more ways to heal.  If you understand why you experience pain, how to apply the right movements, exercises, stretching, classes, massage techniques, and realize that pain is a way the body communicates to us, then we can move towards dealing and managing it.

Primal Mover Workshop Would you like to move around again?!

 

If you struggle with most-basic movements and are looking to improve your physical and mental well-being through playful, primal movement, then this is the workshop for you!

 

Over the course of a single class, students will return to the most primal of movements: crawl, roll, squat, jump and even invert themselves – to the best of their ability – in order to combat years of poor posture, injuries and sedentary lifestyles.

 

This freewheeling Primal Movement workout puts the fun back into fitness and takes us back to our most basic movements to help us restore function and revitalize our lives.

 

Taught by Personal Trainer Nichole Alonso, this course will be held on Saturday, February 17th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM in the JLoft.

 

Participants are required to be able to get up off the floor in order to participate.

We’re excited to host our first Tai Chi Certification workshop with Elizabeth Scanlon, ARNP.
During this 2-Day Certification Workshop, you will learn how Tai Chi works to prevent falls and aid with arthritis, as well as how to teach others!

 

This course is intended for anyone interested in an instructor certification for Tai Chi, or looking to obtain continuing education hours (CEUs).

 

Two certificates will be presented to participants:

  • Tai Chi for Arthritis (TCA)
  • Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention (TCAFP)

 
This workshop will be held in the Jloft. Bring a lunch or you can purchase lunch in our JCafé.

This 4-part workshop series focuses on how to stay active with Diabetes. Based on the American Association of Diabetes Educators Self-Care Behaviors, this program will offer education, self -management techniques, exercises and safety tips to improve your metabolism and control blood-glucose naturally through movement.

 

This workshop is appropriate for adults at any fitness level or ability, even caretakers, parents and loved ones concerned about diabetes. Participation and willingness to learn is the only requirement! Registration is required to participate. Limited foot-space available. Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 20.

“Essential Oils & Aromatherapy”: Olfaction as the Fastest Route to the Brain

Join us for a modern introduction to Essential Oils. During this 3-part series. These workshops will allow attendees to smell, touch and apply CPTG quality essential oils and learn daily useful applications for their home, health, and emotional wellbeing.
