American Red Cross LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION

Saturday 10 AM – 6 PM
Sunday 10 AM – 6 PM

 

Course Description and Details:
Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue skills, surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED and more. These are all skills you will need to work as a professional lifeguard. This course is blended learning, which means you will be required to complete a portion of the class online. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in lifeguarding that includes First Aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.

 

$200 for BGFJCC members or $250 for non-members.
Registrations closes one week before each class begins.

 

Please note:
Course participants must be at least 15 years old. They must be able to swim 300 yards of freestyle, tread water without using their hands for two minutes and retrieve a submerged brick. If you are not a strong swimmer, please take swimming lessons before this class. To successfully complete the course, participants must attend all sessions,score at least 80% on two written tests and pass the practical portion of the exam.

Training June 11- June 15

This program is designed to introduce lifeguarding to teens 12-14 years old. Participants will learn basic lifesaving skills, the chance to aid lifeguards through volunteering and will receive an American Red Cross CPR certification. Training will take place from June 11 until June 15. Once training is complete, participant s will have until August 30 to finish 30 volunteer hours.

 

Junior Lifeguarding will introduce participants to:

  • Skills needed for entry to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course.
  • Communication and decision- making skills.
  •  The basic responsibilities of a lifeguard.
  •  The basic know ledge and skills required to be a lifeguard.

 

This program requires pre-registration. Registration opens April 23 and closes on June 1.

 

American Red Cross LIFEGUARD RE-CERTIFICATION

 

November 4 | 10 AM

 

Course Description and Details:
This is a fast-paced review course with the main focus on the hands-on skills of lifeguarding (CPR/AED/First Aid and Water Rescues). Participants must be currently certified or have a certification expired by no more than 30 days of the course review date for participation in the Lifeguard Review Course.

 

$100 for BGFJCC members or $150 for non-members.
Registrations closes three days before class begins.
